Life coaching is a booming industry. You can now hire a coach for a vast array of needs. And there are so many schools and certifications out there that it might be hard to know who to trust and choose. So why would you choose a shaman as your life coach? All the reasons that I could give you come to this: Because you are looking for extraordinary transformation and results, I mean – really – extra – ordinary. You don’t even need to identify yourself as spiritual. What you need is to be open and ready to dig very deep and bring your life as a whole to an all-new level. Let me explain.
Approaching change in a holistic and sustainable way
Traditional coaching tends to focus on changing behavior and developing skills, while often targeting one aspect of your life at a time (career, finances, relationship, etc.). Yet unless you address the deepest levels of your being and look at your life as a whole, none of this will help you create and embody the lasting transformations that you are looking for. What you will get, at best, will be incremental changes, and for a short period of time.
Robert Dilts, an organizational psychologist who has conducted extensive research into individual change and organizational learning, has created a model called “neurological levels” to explain how change can happen.
The higher level (spirituality) can also be conceived as vision / purpose. Any change at a lower level will be unsustainable unless it is supported by changes on the higher level (which is sometimes represented as a reversed pyramid). Conversely, any change you make on the higher level will flow downstream and result in new ways of being, doing and creating.
Robert Dilts Neurological Levels Model
Now, through evolution and modern distractions, most of us seem to have lost our connection to our spiritual selves. And that’s where a shaman, as an intermediary between this material world and the spiritual one, will help. Conventional life coaches might ask you to bullet point your aims or create a vision board, with methods that are homogenized and even trademarked. When you choose a shaman as a life coach, they will guide you to dive deeper than you have ever done before so you can connect with your soul intentions in order to bring real, lasting, irreversible shifts into your life, and experience a radical growth process. In short, you will be and operate in the world in new ways.
Diving deep with shamanic journeying and soul work
Shamans use a vast range of tools that integrate body, mind and spirit. One key tool is the shamanic journey which allows to work at a level that bypasses a lot of our usual psychic resistance and allows for a real shift many clients had stopped believing in.
One of the reasons why shamanism is currently surging in popularity is because it is very practical and experiential. In my own practice, life coaching starts with a journey which provides insightful (and often surprising) understanding of the different dimensions of your situation. Some of them might not have been immediately clear or had remained unconscious and would have taken much more time to get unraveled through more conventional approaches.
As important, that initial shamanic experience kick starts the transformation in ways that you might have never experienced before, leaving you empowered, hopeful, and with a new level of clarity. In other words, choosing a shaman as your life coach means that you are going to feel your life shifting on day 1. It also means that you will continue to experience drastic and truly transformative shifts in a very short period of time.
Last but not least, the journey generally helps identify what the next steps should be for you on that journey. If a shaman does their work correctly, they are not going to apply a set formula developed by their certification program, like many coaches might do. They will follow spiritual guidance to meet you exactly where you are every step of the way. They will co-create with you a unique, highly personalized program that will evolve as you transform through it. It will nurture you own dreams, creativity, and gifts, your unique path and calling.
Not leading with goals but with intention(s)
There is nothing wrong with you having goals when you work with your life coach. But as a shaman, I make sure that we go much deeper and tap into the essence of your’ deepest yearnings and soul purpose. This is where the authentic creative energy is.
Leading with intention also means that we acknowledge that you stand as co-creator of your life. This means that:
- We are going to help you learn how to confidently tap into your own power, the limitlessness of your soul. We also want to make sure that you operate at your highest vibration and with your highest potential. You will also learn how to perceive, work with, and trust the creative energies at work in our daily lives. Most people go through life clueless about that power at our disposal.
- We are not going to pretend too early that we know the ultimate forms of your project or best outcome, so that you remain open to more opportunities and continue to grow beyond your wildest expectations. We will progressively gather the seeds of your new story, and the energy that is going to push you forward.
This is that combination that brings miracles.
Identifying and releasing your inner obstacles AND resources
Supporting an energetic shift
Albert Einstein famously said, “We can’t solve problems at the same level of thinking that we used when we created them.” What that means for you is twofold:
- The energy from which you operate probably needs to be shifted;
- Whichever hidden barriers are preventing you from accessing your full power need to be released.
This is an important aspect of what it means to choose a shaman as your life coach. I personally witness, on a daily basis, clients opening up to possibilities and resources that they did not know even existed.
Experience has shown me over and over that, with soul, the journey is less about where we are heading than how we are continuing to expand and live in each moment. At first, the path itself may keep shifting and dissolving in that expansion so we can be and bring more of our essence into the world. This is a very powerful process, but it can feel confusing at times, which is why you need a safe container and gentle but firm guidance along the way. That’s why you need a shaman as your life coach.
Creating your own toolbox
I personally use a wide range of tools to help identify those inner barriers, shift them with compassion and forgiveness, and ultimately rewire the brain so that radical change lasts. Meditation, dream work, shamanic journeying, mindfulness practices, breathwork, EFT techniques and concrete exercises/rituals adapted to your life can be designed and used as necessary. By the end of the program, you will have a personalized full toolbox that is yours only and works with your life so you can keep growing on your path. Indeed, the shift must be grounded and actualized through the active, conscious development of new skills, capacities and structures that will bring the new you into every aspect of your life. This is one aspect that I have personally always deeply valued in shamanism: how much embodied and grounded the process is.
I am personally known to be a ‘non-nonsense’ shaman who takes the spiritual into the social realm and back. I am also about achieving measurable results. Which is why I combine my gifts as a shaman with what I know of the latest research in psychology and neuroscience. Why? Because I take the infinite possibilities of neuroplasticity seriously and I want lasting transformation for you.
Can you imagine how it would feel to be unstoppable in “co-creating” with the Universe?
It is time to open to a life of miracles.
