I was talking with a client about the chatter in our minds&#8230; suggesting to look for the silence in between thoughts, the pause that inevitably happens&#8230; You know, it always happens, one way or another. Even when it is <em>really<\/em> busy there, we can always look for the pause&#8230; and then&#8230; maybe<em> The Sound of Silence<\/em>! Because, of course, there is a sound of silence, and it is absolutely beautiful.<\/p>\n<p>For some reason, I briefly had to run down to the front desk to pick up something (some paper and pen for my client, I think) and we had that synchronicity moment with my colleague&#8230; She mentioned that it reminded her of one of\u00a0Wallace Stevens&#8217; poem. That same night, she posted it on my facebook page. The next morning, I was driving to Berkeley Springs, WV to see clients and see some friends (one of them being very sick) and, in the silence, the words came as a natural flow&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Here they are, speaking of that pause, of that surrender that we can experience any time, and also of the fainting voices&#8230;\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p align=\"right\"><em>\u00a0\u201c<\/em><em>I do not know which to prefer,<br \/>\nThe beauty of inflections<br \/>\nOr the beauty of innuendoes,<br \/>\nThe blackbird whistling<br \/>\nOr just after.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p align=\"right\"><em>Wallace Stevens<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Silence<\/p>\n<p>That snowy morning<\/p>\n<p>Nothingness<\/p>\n<p>In between the thoughts<\/p>\n<p>That pause<\/p>\n<p>That blank<\/p>\n<p>In my mind<\/p>\n<p>In between breaths<\/p>\n<p>Spaciousness<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Driving<\/p>\n<p>Silence in the car<\/p>\n<p>My friend facing her death<\/p>\n<p>No word<\/p>\n<p>How to be with it<\/p>\n<p>Just for now<\/p>\n<p>So many deaths in my life<\/p>\n<p>Memories<\/p>\n<p>Karen\u2019s transition not so long ago<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Hearing<\/p>\n<p>Faint Syrian voices<\/p>\n<p>My friend Afra\u2019s quietness \u201cso [she] can hear the stories and all their echoes within\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her words<\/p>\n<p>Across space and time<\/p>\n<p>Her despair, her courage<\/p>\n<p>Their despair, their courage<\/p>\n<p>My despair<\/p>\n<p>And my courage\u2026 at times<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stopping<\/p>\n<p>In the middle of traffic<\/p>\n<p>In between aisles<\/p>\n<p>Grocery shopping<\/p>\n<p>Witnessing<\/p>\n<p>Within<\/p>\n<p>Around<\/p>\n<p>Surrendering<\/p>\n<p>Who am I?
